Christiana Presbyterian Preschool
(615) 217-8224
Feel free to call Stacey Reed, director, or the preschool staff anytime
and ask questions about our program, we will be more than happy to answer
them.
Christiana Presbyterian Preschool operates as a community service ministry
of Christiana Presbyterian Church of Christiana, Tennessee. It is not
a full-time day care center. An age appropriate setting is provided for
play and learning as an extension of the home. Classes are open to those
not yet in kindergarten. We are not a certified kindergarten.
Developing social, physical, emotional and mental skills,
building confidence, and affirming each child's important place in the
family of God are the primary objectives of the preschool. The curriculum
is planned around units common to preschools, and the Christian perspective
pervades every aspect of the program.
The staff of teachers and teacher-aides is responsible to
the Director, who reports to the Preschool Board. The Board operates as
a subcommittee of the Sessional Outreach Ministry. Therefore, the Preschool
continually functions in accord with the goals and policies of Christiana
Presbyterian Church and The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)

Harvest Day 2007

Tuition: Tuition is due and payable at the beginning
of each month. Preschool fees are divided into nine payments. Tuition
is nonrefundable. There is a registration fee that is also nonrefundable.
Days and Hours: The Preschool operates on Tuesdays
and Thursdays during the school year, based on the Rutherford County School
calendar, beginning one week after school begins, and ending one week
before school gets outs. Regular school holidays and snow days will be
observed according to the County Schools. Hours are from 8:30 a.m. to
2:00 p.m.
Health: A current health form, including immunization
record, signed by a health care provider, must accompany the child's enrollment.
Sick children are never accepted. We depend on parents to help us maintain
this policy.
Transportation: Please complete the sing-in book
as you arrive each morning. This daily information allows us to reach
you in an emergency and states the person who will pick up your child.
Please do not send a different adult to pick up your child without notifying
the Director and your child's teacher, for the safety of your child, and
for your peace of mind.
Drills: Safety first, we practice Fire, Tornado,
Severe Weather, and Evacuation drills. This way in the event of one of
the above, your child will know what to do.
Snow Days: Preschool follows the Rutherford County
School closing guidelines. If the County School opens two (2) hours late,
the Preschool will follow the late openings. No refunds are made for inclement
weather. The Preschool can also close at the discretion of the Director.
Sharing Time/Show and Tell: Children are encourage
to share their special discoveries from the natural world (example: shells,
seeds, flowers, insects, etc. ) It is never necessary to bring something
to share, but it is always welcomed. Toys are not appropriate for this
time. Teachers will set up special time for show and tell days.
Parties: There will be special holiday parties, and
each parent will be requested to help with one. If your child has a birthday
during the school year, you may want to celebrate with a simple party
at preschool. No gifts. Cupcakes or cookies, napkins and cups should be
furnished by the parent. Discuss your plans with the teacher.
Clothing: Children should wear clothes appropriate
for outdoor play. Both indoor and outdoor play is essential to children's
early development. They should feel comfortable and free to play. Expect
your child to get dirty!!
Food: Mid-morning snack will be served between 8:30
and 9:30 a.m. Children bring a packed lunch with drink from home to eat
together each day as part of their learning experience.
Discipline: Staff members are encouraged to use a
positive approach and to discipline children to good behavior as much
as possible. Reminders of the rules will usually result in adjusted behavior.
If not, a "time-out" must be taken by the child in a designated
place (a chair indoors).
Community Helpers: We invite our community helpers
to come visit and talk about their jobs.
Fundraiser: There is one fundraiser per school year.
So far we have purchased playground equipment, riding toys, Weekly Reader
magazine (for the children) and much more.
Our Day: The Preschool is on a daily schedule. Story,
table, outside, eating, and rest time are the same times each day.
Programs: We have a Christmas, and Spring/Graduation
Music program.
Food Drive: In November, we collect cans of soup.
These cans of soup stay in our Church food bank to give to the families
in our community.
