Outreach Ministry

Christiana Presbyterian Church serves Christ and our neighbors in our local, national, and global communities in a variety of ways. One example of our local service is our Shoebox Ministry, which provides school, toiletry, and health supplies in easy-to-distribute boxes. We also make special offerings to provide various kinds of aid through our denomination. Our newest endeavor is our Fill the Ark Project. Working through Heifer Project International, we are able to help people in our own country and all around the world feed themselves and earn a better living.

The Food Shopping Seminar was very informative and successful. If you were unable to attend and would be interested in attending the seminar in the future then please let us know at xianapc@bellsouth.net. The seminar covers how to shop with coupons and get food free.

CHRISTIANA PRESBYTERIAN PRESCHOOL

SUPPORTS

LIVING WATERS FOR THE WORLD PROGRAM

Preschool teacher Tammy Morgan and her PreKindergarten class are learning about the world's great need for clean water. They are also learning how the Synod of Living Waters international water purification project, Living Waters for the World, is helping people have clean water to drink and to use. "Mrs. Tammy" and her class are collecting money for the project and have invited the other classes, the other teachers, and all the Preschool parents and families to help. Our congregation is invited to help, too.

The director of Living Waters for the World, Steve Young, came to class recently and taught the children more about the project. He used a bucket of very dirty water and a jug of good, clean water to help them see the difference. He also showed them pictures of a water purification system actually being installed and the party when it was finished.

The Preschool children are collecting change in empty one-gallon water jugs. They plan to keep collecting until they have enough to pay for one purification system ($8,000). LET'S ALL HELP!

PRESBYTERIAN DISASTER ASSISTANCE

Out of Chaos, Hope

There is a force that is even stronger than the devastating effects of wind and weather: God's boundless love. Join Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) in making that love felt to the thousands of victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. Visit www.pcusa.org/pda to assist in PDA's ongoing relief efforts.

Eight PDAT members are currently working in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana; eight additional PDAT members are on standby ready to go to any area where they are needed; and at least six PDAT members are committed to long-term recovery response. We have already been alerted that several Presbyterian churches have sustained damage; therefore, PDA has activated designated giving accounts to help pastors who are struggling to help members of their congregations while also struggling with personal loss; and an account to help with damages churches in the repairing or rebuilding their structures. Please keep those impacted by this disaster and those working to assist the survivors in your prayers.

Those wishing to respond financially may do so by designating gift for:

DR000169 - U.S. Hurricane Response (to help disaster survivors)

DR000161 - Pastoral Care (for assistance to pastors)

DR000163 - Church Property Damage

Gifts may be made online (www.pcusa.org/pda) by credit card, or checks may be sent directly to Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Individual Remittance Processing, PO Box 643700, Pittsburgh, PA 15264-3700.
